What Does “New Smile in a Day” Actually Mean?
The phrase “new smile in a day” gets thrown around a lot. But that doesn’t mean you only have one appointment.
On the day of your procedure, Dr. Gardner places the four implants and attaches a temporary set of replacement teeth. You walk out with teeth that look and feel like a complete smile. You could even eat soft foods that same day, depending on your comfort level.
That temporary set stays in place for several months while your implants fuse with your jawbone. This fusion process is called osseointegration. It’s what makes implants so strong and durable.
Once your bone has fully healed, usually about four to six months later, you come back for your final set of teeth. These are custom-made to look natural and function perfectly. And they’re fixed in place permanently.
So yes, you get teeth on the day of surgery. But they get even better a few months later.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
You might be a candidate for All-on-4 even if you’ve been told you don’t have enough bone for traditional implants. Because the back implants are angled, they can often be placed in areas where bone density is still good, even if the ridge itself has shrunk. That means many patients who would need bone grafting for traditional implants can avoid it altogether.
